Last Poets – It’s a Trip


Last Poets were formed in 1968 at Marcus Garvey Park in East Harlem.

There is a road in Brixton Market called Marcus Garvey Way , just off the Atlantic Road.

The Clash released a track called Guns of Brixton
and also this sung / spoken word classic..

Linton Kwesi Johnson - Di Eagle An' Di Bear

Dennis Bovell worked extensively with Linton Kwesi Johnson over many years.
He set up his own Sound System "Jah Sufferer" when living in London ,as did
another big name, Jazzie B, from1977 , bringing the Jamaican Sound System
culture to London for the second generation West Indian people & kickin off
the warehuse party scene .  This explains what Jazzie B & the later name changed system Soul II Soul were all about.
